Iraq screens Majid Majidi flick

Majid Majidi's Oscar attendee 'The Song of Sparrows' has screened at Iran cultural center in Iraqi capital city of Baghdad.

The screening session was attended by a number of Iran culture and art enthusiasts, including Iraq director Sa'd al-Naamah who praised the film international accolades.

The flick narrates the story of a simple middle-aged man, Karim. He works on an animal farm where the man is deeply connected to the ostriches. One of them flees the farm apparently by accident. He went anywhere for that but could not find the lost which costs his job.

That's when he goes to the city for first time and works on a motorbike. City life teaches Karim a big deal and you would see how he changes through all this.

In 2009, 'The Song of Sparrows' was Iran cinema representative at the Academy Awards.

His brilliant performance on the film won Reza Naji, the star of the film, a Silver Bear from Berlin International Film Festival, Germany.

Majid Majidi is an internationally celebrated Iranian director who has so far made several other successful films such as 'Children of Heaven'.

His latest movie 'Beyond the Clouds' is an Iran-India joint venture which opened the 36th Fajr International Film Festival.
